I'd hankered after a bicycle die for ages and bought this one from Joanna Sheen a while back, and have used it ummm maybe once! Don't know why, I just find it difficult to use!
Anyway, I die cut my bicycle and used the off cut to stencil my background with blue and purple chalks. Of course, then I proceeded to cover most of it up with my central panel Doh ;) Plus I think I should have been braver and went much darker with my stenciling, I think if I didn't tell you those were bicycles in the background you might not notice! Ah well, I had fun making it! Thanks for the inspiration Patti! :)

Using your offcut to create your background was such a great idea! I really need to remember that trick for future cards. Love how you used only part of the bicycle as your focal point, too. It really gives a sense of movement, as though the bike is rolling into the frame.
What a brilliant idea Lynne, this is really great and I can see this technique working with all types of die cut shapes...hmmm... a horse one would be good!! Hope all is well with you xx
I do see those stencilled bikes!! This is a wonderful design, and I like how you only have part of the bike die cut--It makes it feel like there is some motion on your card. Thanks so much for playing along at CASology this week.
NOW I get your last comment on my blog! giggles!! Thanks a bunch for the shout out your perfect card is so amazing! I love the sweet background you created with chalk! You are so sweet friend!

I love your card and the great design.
I've just bought this die to make my husband's birthday card (he's a keen cyclist) but was struggling for ideas on how to use it. I'm going to CASE your design as I think it works so well - thank you!
