Blue Birthday

I've a wee birthday card to share this evening that was 100% inspired by the birthday card my mum gave me.  I rarely use a plain coloured base for my floral cards so thought I'd have a go at making my own version.

First off, this is the card I received...

And here's my version...

My flowers are from Reverse Confetti, coloured with polychromos and an additional flower popped up on foam pads.  I added paint splatters but thought it still needed something so stamped this pretty Catherine Pooler background stamp in grey and think it looks much better.  Butterflies are a Penny Black die.

As You Like It - masculine or feminine - an easy choice for me as 99% of my stamp stash is either cutsie or floral so I tend to struggle with cards for blokes!

Andrea's Birthday card

Hi all!  Well here's hoping for a decent few days of weather, I've my traditional birthday week booked off work ๐Ÿ˜. We were up visiting family in Ballycastle today and then took Molly for a walk on the beach, but it was definitely a hoods-up and waterproof coat kind of day.  I think there were maybe half a dozen folk on the entire beach!  Ah well, we still enjoyed it! For the rest of the week I'm hoping to get our living room painted, the garden tackled, and a day or two out and about.

I've a birthday card for my sister-in-law this evening, using this little girl from Penny Black, mmmmm wouldn't mind a cake that size!  I've also used some of my new alpha dies - I'd been on the lookout for nice slim letters for an age but I've since chucked the packaging and I've no idea where I bought them!  I coloured some scraps of white card the same as all the icing colours to cut her name and a touch of gloss over the letters to make them pop a bit and then lots of gloss/glitter on the cake's icing.  DP from an MFT Christmas pad.  I'm pleased with how this turned out.

Happy Jubilee!

Hi all!  Well I achieved my all time worst record of ONE card blogged last month!!! So I've given myself a double boot up the derriรจre and am aiming to do much better this month. So I'm kicking things off with June's calendar page for Mum in a Queen's Jubilee tea party theme!  I don't think I have any Queen stamps so this little Miss from Stamping Bella was the next best thing!

I've had a lovely couple of days off work for the Queen's Jubilee.  We were out last night for our beacon lighting event, complete with town councillors, Deputy Mayor and local photographers!  And a squillion midges too!

And then today we were off to my sister's for a lovely Jubilee lunch, complete with Corgi biscuits and Royal cupcakes!  Oh and personalised Jubilee themed place settings from my niece too!

Birthday Blooms

Hi all!  Gosh my blogging is getting worse instead of better!  I've had absolutely ZERO mojo recently but decided to take out my favourite flowers from Penny Black to get me going again.  I spent 2 evenings in front of the telly colouring it and then this evening to put it together (good job I'm not charging by the hour LOL!)  Coloured with polychromos, the vase watercoloured and then a few splatters added to the background.

And just have to share this photo I took a few days ago in a local wood of the bluebells and wild garlic - you'll be glad there's no smellyvision with this as the whiff was quite impressive!  Miss Molly had a great sniffy time of course!

A biongy bunny!

Hi all! Sunday evening already, my week off work just flew in!  I managed to hurt my shoulder (on the mend) so it kinda scuppered my To Do List, but sure there was nothing there that wouldn't wait for another day!  We put our days in rightly, we've been blessed with lots of dry sunny weather all week so we'd lots of wee trips out and about.  This week is a short one too as I've Friday booked off to go to Garden Show Ireland, so hopefully the good weather holds!

I recently rediscovered some boingy spring wobble things in my stash so used one on this old bunny from The Cats Pyjamas - I think I bought this stamp back in 2011 and it's been many years since it last saw ink, bad me!

I added clear gloss to the silver bits on the plane and sparkle to the blue highlights.  Striped DP from MFT.  It needed a wee something to finish it and after a LOT of faffing I added 2 little strips of leftover black card and I think that's it finished now!  Though I'm not overly happy with my colouring on his ears so I might see if I can do something with them!

Happy Easter!

Hi all, and a very Happy Easter to you!  It was so nice to be able to spend it with some of the family and enjoy a beautiful dinner, especially when you think of the restrictions of the last few years and awful events around the world.  It was a dark damp old day here, hopefully the weather smartens up a bit as I treated myself to the week off work.  I've a few jobs planned but we'll see how that goes ๐Ÿ˜‰

So here's the Easter cards I sent, not very dissimilar to the one I made for Mum a few weeks ago.  This time I stencilled in the grass and clouds, I need to learn to be braver with my stencilling and go a bit heavier on the colour!  I think I made 7 or 8 of these so that was a lot of fussy cutting!!!

And a wee close-up of that cute bunny...

And of course there was plenty of clear gloss and glitter added!

Sympathy Daisies

Hi all!  Urgh Sunday evening already. How do the weekends go so fast!  It's a nice short week though as we get Good Friday off work, and Easter Monday and Tuesday too.  So I just had to treat myself to the rest of next week off, it would have been a shame not to ๐Ÿ˜œ. Hopefully the weather cooperates and we'll get a wee day or two out somewhere.

Anyway I've a wee sympathy card this evening, which I have to confess turned out nothing like I'd imagined!  I've used my Penny Black daisies again (sparkle added to the flower centres), Penny Black butterfly die and this pretty DP from an MFT Christmas pack.

Peeking over

Hi all!  My card today is 100% inspired by a wee jaunt we took up the coast on Sunday to Waterfoot, a lovely beach and a beautiful drive through the hills.  Lots of the little lambs were having a great time racing around and many of the fields are boundaried by fab stone walls.  So the only stamp set I have that had both sheep and stone walls is this oldie from Woodware from 2008! ...

I've actually tried a new technique to me (yes I know it's been around for years!) of inlaying the sentiment - I only used 1 layer of white card beneath the greeting but I'm thinking I should have used 2 to make it pop more.  And I've just noticed I need to tidy up my sentiment, there's a few scraggly ends left from the diecutting.  Critters and wall coloured with polychromos and clear gloss added to their hooves and eyes.

Miss Molly had a fab time at the beach sniffing everything in sight.  Doubt she's going to be a swimmer though, she barely got those paws wet (and I wasn't prepared to brave the cold ocean for a paddle to tempt her in!). Glad to say though she was exhausted after her trip and slept all the way home and most of the evening too!

Sympathy fuchsias

LOL I had to check that's actually how you spell fuchsia!! It's one of those words that never looks right no matter what letters you use!

My mojo has been on the missing list this past while, this is the first I've lifted my pencils for well over a week ☹️ but I reckon if I keep at it some spark will reappear!

I've pulled out an oldie from Clearly Besotted for this one and this scrap of purple striped paper has been knocking round my stash for a while too...

As You Like It - recycle or buy new - that's a tough one!  I do love my new stash but sometimes it's just nice to pull out an old favourite and use leftovers up!

Happy Mother's Day

Hi all, and Happy Mother's Day for tomorrow to all you Mums out there!  I'm sharing my Mum's card this evening.  I've used my new Penny Black daisies, it's a bigger stamp than I was expecting (no I didn't read the dimensions when I was ordering LOL), but it works well enough in this DL size.  My new PB butterfly dies also made a surprise appearance after I managed to get a dirty smudge on my sentiment ๐Ÿ˜œ

I should have taken a photo of my own pot of daisies, I'd forgotten I had some mini daffodils planted in the same pot, but they look amazing popping through the daisies!  We've had such a lovely spell of sunny spring weather, though there's talk of it getting cold during the week and a chance of snow! Hopefully it's just the weathermen getting over excited again!

Faffing Crafting

Hi all, and Happy St Patrick's Day!  No drowning the shamrock for me, I was out weeding instead LOL!  We get the day off work so I just had to book tomorrow as well, so a nice loooong weekend ahead AND it's supposed to be sunny for the next few days too, yippee!  It would have been great craic to be in Dublin for the parade,  I'd say it would be fun trying to get served at the bar though!

I've been struggling with my mojo recently so it's been a bit of a battle making these!  This first one was an absolute faff, it started much simpler but then I decided to add the die cuts behind the plants, got them prised off (and ripped half the purple panel in the process), and then the little butterflies and sequins appeared next.  I'm still not 100% thrilled with it, but it's better than it was!

Believe it or not, my layout was inspired by this sketch from Try Stamping on Tuesday #546, but I maybe got a bit lost!

This Christmas card was another faffing session... that black panel was originally silver, and then white before I could decide what I was doing!  Snowdude from Simon Says Stamp and I think the DP is from MFT.

Miss Molly has had a busy time recently.  She was in for a wee op a couple of weeks ago but is back to 100% fitness and 100% naughtiness!  She's also been in for her first puppy grooming session since this pic was taken so she can see out now LOL

Guest designing for Stamping Sensations

I'm delighted to be Guest Designer over at Stamping Sensations and the theme for March is "Spring".  Hope you'll play along - there's a fab prize pack up for grabs too!

It's also the final Ruby's Memory Challenge over at Snippets Playground, so I hope you can play along there too!  When Di started this challenge back in February last year it was just over a month from when our beloved Ruby died when we were still so so sad, and it felt like a huge hug from Di and the entire crafting community.  There has been an amazing amount of prizes gifted and Di has donated a fabulous amount of ££ to the USPCA.  So a massive THANK YOU to everyone.  We now have Molly to entertain us and keep us busy, but there will never ever be another wee dog like Ruby xx. (the snippet on my card is the tab in the corner. It looked like it needed a wee something and a leftover scrap of purple was just it!)

I've used this sweet Easter set from Lil' Inker which I LOVE - the font of that sentiment just makes me happy.  That little bunny looks so pleased with himself to have a basket full of choccy eggs AND a big sparkly carrot!  This card's for my Mum, but I'm making a few other variations of it for friends and family... so that's a lot of colouring and a LOT of fussy cutting!

Lots of flowers!

Hi all!  Such a beautiful spring day we had today, blue skies all the way but cold cold air and reckon there'll be another hard frost tonight.  Our daffs are all starting to bloom, so it was perfect timing to ink up one of my new stamps from Sweet Sentiment - a new to me brand from a new to me craft website, Jude Creates ... How did I only come across this Belfast based store now?!!!!

Coloured with polychromos; clear gloss added to the daffodil and glitter to the flower centre; die cut panel from Simply Graphic.   It needed a wee something to finish it off and this skinny strip of leftover yellow did the trick ☺. Looking at it now though I wonder why I bothered cutting that bottom triangle when I could just have simply embossed the corner?

Layout based on Stick it Down March sketch

As You Like It - interactive or not?  I'm definitely in the 'not' camp as they're something I never make!  I think the most interactive I get is an action wobble (when I can find them that is!)

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday - add a die cut

THis second card uses an oldie from Colorado Crafts.  I got my watercolour pencils out for a change, I'm always a bit frustrated though when I use watercolours as my card usually ends up warping a bit, I obviously don't tape it down enough.

March calendar page

Hi all. I haven't shared one of my calendar pages for Mum for a while, so here's March.  We get St Patrick's Day off work so I've treated myself to the Friday too so that's a nice loooong weekend to look forward to.

I masked off this Anita Jeram stamp so the shamrocks could flow across the page - I didn't do a great job of it though so the sentiment came in handy to hide the duff edges ;)

Think pink

Hi all!  Popping by this evening with a quickie post, Peaky Blinders is just coming on TV, it's a tad violent and half times I haven't a clue what's going on, but I love it!

I've had my Simon Says Stamp snowmen out again and paired it with this swanky DP from (I think) MFT.

We'd a wee skiff of snow this week. Miss Molly hadn't a clue what to make of it!  She sat at our back door for ages just gruffing at the strange rain.  Daftie.

Get well Daffodils

Hi all!  Its another wild evening out there and it's blowing a hooley, this time it's Storm Franklin to blame.  We took Molly out for a quick dander earlier but by the time we turned for home the sleet was battering us and we were soaked by the time we got in.  Definitely a night for PJs and the heat on!

Anyway, I have a wee get well card to share, using an oldie LOTV stamp - love that bunny!   My daffodils in the garden have their heads up and won't be long till they unfurl, hopefully this wind tonight won't floor them!

Birthday foliage

Hi all, popping in this evening with a wee simple card, can't say it was quick though as I excel at faffing!!  I've been on a wee shopping trip to France (would have been even nicer in real life LOL) and bought this pretty little cover plate and stamps from Simply Graphic. I also caved in for a set of tags dies, but they're for another day.

I flipped the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches #523

We're battening down the hatches here this evening for Storm Eunice due later.  It's all quiet at the minute though, there's barely even a rustle in the trees, you definitely wouldn't think there was a storm on the way!

Greg's Valentine

Hi all! Popping by tonight with Greg's Valentine, I'm ahead of the game for a change!  I've used my Penny Black stamp again - I added gloss to all the balloons bar one and when they'd dried I glossed up the last and dropped in lots of glitter.  I used my hearts die (from MFT I think) as a stencil to make the background and some of the wee offcuts as embellishments.
