Faffing about

Sometimes I spend an age just faffing about and getting nowhere!  This was based on the Library Challenge - this week it's Breakfast at Tiffanys - another book I haven't read so I just took the cover as my inspiration.
First obstacle was my Dienamics town die -  I cut it too short first time and had to do it again.
I thought it needed a wee something so went on the hunt for a little car image I have from Eat Cake Graphics .... nope, nowhere to be found.
Then I went looking for some little wooden cars that I definitely saw somewhere recently ... nope, couldn't find them either.
So then I stamped an Alley Way Stamps car, paper pieced the body work with my gold card, decided it looked crap and threw it in the bin.
And that's why I ended up with Henry Mouse as my image - it was sitting ready and waiting after being coloured in the garden yesterday!
What a faff!!
Though I'm pleased with how it turned out in the end ;)

And in comparison, this card for work just made itself!  Stamped, coloured with watercolour pencils in our company colours, added a bit of glitter to the little heart and some bling, and job done!

On the telephone and a Birthday Doggy

Ohhh we've had the most beautiful dry and sunny weather here this past week or so, and still due for more next week!  In celebration I reckon my mojo has cleared off on his holidays ... isn't it funny how it's Mr Mojo causing the trouble and not Mrs Mojo! ;)

Anyway, this little girl was coloured in the garden, not too often I would be doing that!  Usually I need to do weeding or whatever, but for a change it was all done and tidied!

I popped her up on foam dots and added clear gloss to the telephone and her eyes and lips.

  • Layout from CAS(E) This Sketch #273
  • Colour theme from Your Next Stamp #90 - my base card wasn't an exact match but it's more peachy than the pinky shade it looks here.
  • Simon Says - inspired by a song - 'Hanging on the Telephone' by Blondie
And here's another CAS card, using my Tim Holtz doggy and MFT heart die.  I embossed a couple of lines to keep with the them of the sketch challenge and then added a few wee butterflies cut from the leftovers.
Dog popped up on foam pads and sparkle added to the butterflies.

Brideshead Revisited

This card is for the current challenge over at The Library Challenge based on Brideshead Revisited.  Not a book I've read I confess, but I'll have to add it to my reading list.

I don't think I have any old car stamps so used this old Stampin Up truck and Dienamics town die.  I couldn't think how to interpret the white banner from the book, so just added some white splatters and white enamel dots instead.  Clear gloss added to the windows and truck popped up on foam pads.

When to call it quits!

Did you ever plough on with a card when really you should have called it quits?  This one's for a student who's been on work placement with us.  I'd only stamped the sentiment and her name - then I stamped the bottom row of flowers and when I was lifting the stamp off it fell and left a faint impression.  That was my cut off point when I should have walked away.
But oh no.
I figured I'd keep going and try to cover up the worst of it.  So on went a few sequins, and then some more.  And then the bit in the middle looked a bit bare, so on went some die cuts too.   And it's annoyed me ever since.

So I made it again!  Much the same but a bit more balanced.  And much less bling!

Prima flower stamp.  Elizabeth Craft Designs square dies..

Thanks Ellie

I'm trying to rediscover my mojo, and the Muse challenge is always a good place to start!  Tracey's inspiration card this week features a sweet elephant - I don't have very many in my stash, reckon it's because I find them hard to colour!

I've used this oldie from High Hopes - I'd a wee scrap of the pink paper left so used it to paper piece her ribbon.
I added silver marker and clear gloss to her nails for a nice manicure ;)
Pink stars from stash.
Watercolour pencils.

Gardening and stars

Gosh it's been over a week since I made a card ... just been busy getting the garden sorted and busy in work too.  So I've had no spare mojo to be crafting!

This little girl (an old Kraftin Kimmie stamp) pretty much sums up what I've been up to.  You could stick a paintbrush in her hand too as the fence got done as well!

It's not very often I make a card with no stamping on it ... I reckon colouring is half the fun!  For this one I just die cut some stars and added a few blue and yellow splatters on the BG to pull it all together.

Camping and cows

We'd a lovely Spring day today, sunshine and a bit of heat in the air.  It's looking good for the bank holiday weekend :)   It's great to see the garden starting to take shape again after such a long wet autumn & winter.

Anyway, this is a special request card for a little girl who was going camping for her birthday and was going to be toasting marshmallows!  Which is fine, if you have camping type stamps!  I luckily found this unloved DP in my stash which was perfect.  I used the fire from part of an old High Hopes stamp; my bunny is from Eat Cake Graphics and then I drew on a stick with a marshmallow!
This one was a challenge ... Penny Black Saturday this month want to see your favourite Penny Black stamp.  Which is a bit of an impossibility as I love all my PB stamps!  I paper pieced her wellies and added clear gloss to her horns.  Gummiapan flower die.  Not sure of make of embossing folder, it's another oldie.
